2025 Theatre in The Wings Canadian National Ten Minute Play Festival

We are now accepting submissions for the 2025 Theatre in The Wings Canadian National Ten-Minute Play Festival running from September 11-14 & 18-21.

Seven of the submitted plays will be chosen to be produced at the festival. Each chosen playwright will receive a total of $300 CDN for performance rights for eight shows. Theatre in The Wings is an intimate 40-seat storefront performance space in downtown Belleville, Ontario.

grant River & Main Theatre the right

I grant River & Main Theatre the rights to produce my play at Theatre in The Wings for a run of eight shows in August 2024 for which I will be paid a total of $300 CDN.

I have removed my name from the script

The Rules

Playwrights must reside in Canada.
Scripts must be written in English.
Scripts must be original works by the author.
Playwrights may submit up to two scripts. There is no cost to submit.
Previously produced plays will be considered.
Running time for each play must not exceed ten minutes.
The deadline for submission is 12:00 midnight EDT on June 1, 2025.
The playwright’s name must not appear on the script.
Scripts must be submitted in MS WORD or .pdf format.
The play should have from 2 to 4 characters and minimal props and costumes.
Musicals, monologues and plays for children will not be considered.
Copyright is retained by the playwright. No changes will be made to the scripts without the permission of the playwright.
Plays will not be recorded without permission of the playwright.
The playwrights’ names will appear on all programs.
Selection will be made by an anonymous panel of three judges.
The judges’ decisions are final.
Copyright for all submissions is retained by the playwright.
Selected playwrights will be notified on or before July 15, 2025.
