Calling all writers in the Greater Bay of Quinte Region (Brighton, Quinte West, Belleville, Prince Edward County, Greater Napanee, and the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory)

River & Main Theatre Company at Theatre in The Wings is now accepting submissions of original, un-produced plays for the First Annual Bay of Quinte Play Writing Competition!

This year's theme is “True Crime on the Bay of Quinte". The winning entries will be brought to life in a rehearsed staged reading in November 2026 at Theatre in the Wings. There's going to be plenty of material for writers to choose from...from daring robberies and gruesome murders to the notorious Bay of Quinte rumrunners to Trenton’s rash of chicken thefts in March of 1936 to Belleville’s infamous mannequin heists in May of 2016.

1st Prize: $250
2nd Prize: $150
3rd Prize: $100

Deadline to submit your script is October 4, 2026 at 6:00 pm. There is no cost to enter. Writers can submit up to three scripts.

Plays must run no longer than one hour. Scripts must be submitted in digital format, either PDF or MS Word. All other document formats will not be accepted. Send scripts as email attachments to info@theatreinthewings.ca
