ACT TWO
"The Allies Are Coming": a semi-autobiographical one-act comedy by Peter Paylor, directed by Candace Meeks
Allies come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and backgrounds. In his usual comic style, Peter brings the unique perspective of a male, cisgender, heterosexual senior citizen...a loving parent and ally...who's facing a much different world than the one he grew up in.
"He wasn’t his son at the time, Ruth. He had what they call a transition. He was his daughter back then. He was a girl. No, I’m sorry, I’ve got that all wrong. I read about this in the Chatelaine magazine. He was always his son, but no one knew because he had a vagina. He was trapped inside the wrong body. No, that’s not right…I mean “they” were trapped in the wrong body. That’s what it said in the Chatelaine magazine, right next to the recipe for gluten-free muffins"
